Material BIOGRAPHY Randy K. Dean & Lorri A.
Gorno OUR STORY Randy Dean and Lorri Gorno are a married couple
who after struggling with infertility for years, became the parents of three children
practically overnight. Soon after they were selected by a young mother to adopt
her unborn son, they found out they were pregnant with twins. They hit the baby
lottery. Their first child was born in April 2001 and their twins were born prematurely
in late October 2001, with no complications. Throughout that adventuresome
first year, the overworked and sleep-deprived parents did their best to juggle
three children and their careers, and along the way they realized several key
components were missing from all the parenting guides they had read. Randy found
himself taking note of all the things he wished they had known or that someone
would have told him about the early days of parenting. There was a great deal
of information that Randy and Lorri felt would have made their first year as parents
much easier. They soon compiled a huge list of parenting advice, both common and
not, which they realized would be a great help to new parents. RANDY'S
STORY Randy is originally from Wheaton, IL and the youngest of three
children. He has a B.A. in Business Administration and an MBA from the University
of Michigan. He began his career in a sales position with AT&T and advanced
over several years to a Vice-President of Sales with a leading computer software
firm. After the twins were born, he decided to take 8 months off to spend time
with them and their older brother, which was extremely helpful as Lorri was recovering
from an nearly fatal pregnancy. Randy recently decided to put family ahead of
career and changed employment to a job that required less travel and late nights.
He is now a Major Account Manager with COMSYS, a leading computer consulting firm. LORRI'S
STORY Lorri is originally from Detroit, MI and the second of three girls.
She attended Bowling Green State University, and studied Liberal Arts with an
emphasis on pre-law classes. She graduated from college in 1988 and started law
school at the University of Toledo, College of Law that same year. Lorri graduated
from law school in 1991, summa cum laude, ranked 5th in her class. She accepted
a job at the law firm of Baker & Hostetler during her last year of law school
and moved to Columbus to begin work for Baker in the fall of 1991. She left Baker
in 1997 for a brief stint with Abbott Laboratories, before joining OhioHealth
in 1997. At OhioHealth, she was Assistant General Counsel for the health care
system and provided legal advice and guidance to this multi-hospital health care
company. Lorri officially left employment with OhioHealth at the end of 2003 and
now works for OhioHealth as independent contractor. She works from home two days
a week and spends the other days with her three toddlers. 100 THINGS
I WISH I KNEW... Randy and Lorri wrote their book so that other new
parents could have a resource that contained all of the important things they
think new parents should know about caring for an infant. The information is presented
in an enjoyable yet economical manner that allows a busy new parent to have time
enough to actually read the book during their busy first year. The book is written
in parent-to-parent tone and is backed up with extensive research. The book was
reviewed by top pediatricians and child care experts. Randy and Lorri's babies
are now full in to toddlerhood and keep the couple very busy, but they have a
great deal of fun together and find it a privilege to be the parents of three
amazing and joyful children. |
